I just saw the live coverage of Sony's Pre-E3 conference, and, guess what? They slapped together a wireless PS2 controller for the PS3 that has motion sensing abilities. However, it seems to not have the depth and distance the Wiimote has, not to mention, the demo they showed of the guy doing it was delayed slightly (as in the motions didn't quite exactly do them flawlessly in the game).

So there you have it guys, Sony again copied Nintendo. At least they didn't steal the whole one handed deal, it's just a PS2 controller for the PS3 with the ability of motion sensing. Oh and by the way, the PS3 will cost $499 for the 20 GB and $599 for the 60 GB hardrive. There goes me getting a PS3, I guess I'll be buying a 360 to play SONIC the Hedghog and any other good game on there.

Oh and by the way, there was no applause when it was demoed. Everyone was slient, the audience knew exactly what Sony had done.

Discuss guys, really I have to hear your thoughts, cause I'm pretty pissed off now.

Can you link to it? I'd like to see that.

Anyways, I think we should come to expect this from sony. They've been copying Nintendo from the start. The analog stick, the rumble pack, now this. I'm not saying that I'm mad. 'Cause I am really mad.

Those of us who have got past this stage can look at it more closely. The two controllers really are not the exact same thing. What's the big difference? One is limited in its function and the other isn't. The limited one, for those wondering, is the PS3 controller.

The PS3 controller senses tilting.
The Wii controller senses motion.

This means that although you can swing a sword (Dragon Quest Swords), aim a gun (Red Steel), throw a ball (Madden Wii), or swing a racket (Tennis Wii) with the WiiMote, you cannot do the same with the Dual Shock 3. What can the DS3 do? It can do little functions like acting like a fishing rod, as a steering wheel for racing games.

It copied off of the joystick.

Which pretty much combined the ideas of KTT and WW:Tw

Figures.

In years they're going to advance on this, and everybody will love it. Sony will get all the credit as being so innovative and original, as always. =/

Sony is being a moronic copycat AGAIN. They made the PSP just to beat the DS, so said the Sony owner or someone like that.

*Takes Torch* Lets burn SONY!!! Ok, well just the copycat ppl of Sony.

I am personally leaning toward "Nintendo pushed out the DS to slowdown the PSP until GBE comes." It just so happened that the DS was so successful that another GameBoy has become unnecessary, in the near term.

I think the 'E' might have stood for "Evolution". Game Boy Evolution.

Nintendo Stole Microsoft's Motion Sensing Idea
Fixed.

For those who don't know, Microsoft was the first to think of the motion sensing controller. It was originally planned to be a wireless, padless mouse for Windows computers, but they never got it off the ground. Nintendo just picked up where they left off.

Microsoft's was rudimentary, imprecise, and did not function as a 3-D mouse.

You fail. :(

Just the tilt control portion is as old as a game of labyrinth. ;)

I think that's a bit of a stretch. Labyrinth isn't exactly a video game.

the worst part is, that when sony showed the controller, they said: our new controller is unique and innovative...

yeah right.

i think the ps3 will be nintendo's 64. or quite possibly sega's dreamcast.

(powerful, had a handful of unsurpassed games, but were below-average supported.)
