Mario Kart Wii In Europe This Year, Super Smash Bros. Brawl in 2008

(thought I'd make one more post)

Sources say that the Wii version of Mario Kart - which is said to be revealed at E3 - will be out this year in Europe...

One of our trusted sources has given us some news about the Wii version of Mario Kart.

The game will be shown at this year's E3, which is something that everything expects anyway. What's more is that it will be release this year in Europe. Specific details on the game are still unknown - just the planned release date and the fact that it exists is known - but we will find all that out next week anyway.

Mario Kart for the Wii will be a "replacement" for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe, which will sadly miss Europe this year, and it will be out early 2008 instead. However, this also means that the US will not see Mario Kart until early 2008, and they will be getting Smash Bros. Brawl in 2007. This means that Nintendo fans in both Europe and the US will have something to moan about (they'll have something to be glad about, too....but there will probably be more moaning).

Also note that at the beginning of June Patrick Nagel, Deputy Marketing Manager for Nintendo Germany, stated that Europe will see Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart in 2007. We have reason to believe that he really was speaking the truth then.

As we have already said, we trust this source, but have put this up as rumour rather than news because we have no official way to back it up. You'll just have to wait and see.

New 3rd Party Character for Brawl

Although it is just a rumor, It has been seen on Capcom's website that there is something going to be announced from them. This mysterious announcement is shown here: http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.php/2007/10/10/prepare_yourself
The rumor is that since this popped up on the day of Sonic's announcement of being in Brawl, It is thought that the strange announcement will be the addition of Mega Man in Brawl. Afterall, Capcom and Nintendo have been a bit buddy-buddy lately seeing as how the New Nintendo Zapper will be first used in Capcom's "Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles" and that it is raised the question of a Capcom character in Brawl. Since Mega Man was the second on the list of most wanted 3rd party characters to be in Brawl, next to Sonic, it has made people wonder what the code will say if it actually is the announcement of Mega Man. It is also believed that the last line of it says "Prepare yourself for a Brawl" which would fit very nicely into the message and give even more belief of a Capcom character will be added to Brawl...
Then again this is still just rumor...

rumor confirmed to be false

Although it was not the announcement of Mega Man in Brawl, It was confirmed that there will be a release of a fourth Street Fighter after about ten years.

RUMOR: A Super Smash Bros. Brawl Demo in Nintendo Power Holiday Issue?

It's being rumored around that there will in fact be something big in NP's holiday issue this year. Most people are saying it's a Brawl Demo, and I mean, what better way than to start off the new NP (with Future US publishing it now) than to give us subscribers a demo of Brawl!? There's only one way to tell that there might be a Brawl demo in the issue and here they are.

On the official Nintendo Power site, Chris Slate says: "That's not to say that we won't be making good changes: we're publishing an annual Holiday issue (sandwiched between the December and January issues), and we have very exciting plans for a bigger and better NintendoPower.com. And over time, we will always look for ways to evolve and improve every aspect of the magazine." -Chris Slate of Nintendo Power

But that isn't the only hint... from the latest NP comes ONE more hint from the preview page of the next issue: "Surprises big and small await faithful NP readers in the first annual holiday issue, so we recommend watching your mailbox closely!"

What does this all mean? Tons of good things await us NP subscribers. Will it be a Brawl demo? Maybe. All we can do is wait. I seriously hope that it is indeed the demo from E4A... :)

Again, this is a RUMOR, it could be anything that they're referring to.

Portal on Wii... a possibility?

“It’s an extremely interesting idea, but there’s nothing in product - not yet, anyway.” - Valve spokesman Doug Lombardi

This quote says that they're not working on anything for Wii yet however, I find it a possibility that we may see Portal on Wii. Whether that'll happen is up to Valve. Let's wait and see what happens! :)

Kirby Gamcube Platformer seems to be dead for good

Remember that lovable GCN Kirby platformer we all saw some videos of at E3 2005? Well, that little treasure seems to be canceled for good now despite what Matt from IGN has been saying about it (and everyone else of course, even Nintendo themselves!) How come DK Barrel Blast made it to Wii but, the Kirby platformer couldn't? Sigh, there goes another good GCN game that would've been gold on Wii.

This is what confirms it though. There was an 'Ask Nintendo' section in the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK with a reader asking a question about the game

"There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008."

Sad, isn't it? If this turns around though, I will post news about its comeuppance however, if nothing appears of it expect it to be completely gone.

E3 Returns to Los Angeles next July

Following the E3 Media and Business Summit in Santa Monica this past July, much of the industry had a mixed reaction to the new format for what used to be gaming's biggest annual show. One of the common complaints, however, was that not having a central location was a major hassle when trying to get from meeting to meeting.

Today the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has made it clear that that won't be a problem again, as E3 will be headed back to its old venue: the Los Angeles Convention Center. Don't expect huge crowds, booth babes and game demos, however. "While there will be opportunities for game demonstrations, the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit will not feature the large trade show environment of previous years," ESA stated.

E3 will once again focus "on the business of the computer and video game industry, with an emphasis on press events and small meetings with media, development, and other key sectors."

"The U.S. is the world's number one video game market and the E3 Media & Business Summit is its premier video game conference. The 2008 Summit will provide a professional and efficient environment for suite-based meetings with media, and other industry leaders," said Michael D. Gallagher, CEO of the ESA. "We look forward to welcoming the media and top industry executives to a centralized, business focused and personalized experience. Our program of high-level meetings, networking and personal dialogue, and industry-shaping panel discussions will capture the explosive growth we have seen in 2007 and lay the foundation for the 2008 video game marketplace."

The 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit will take place from July 15 - 17, 2008 and will be open to both ESA members and non-members. Like last year, though, attendance at the events, meetings, and demonstrations will be by invitation only.
